If your smoke detector goes off (while the battery is supposed to last 10 years, for example) without a fire or bad air, it could have several causes. Below you can read about the possible causes and the steps you can take if this happens:
1. Test Button
According to the manual, it’s important to press the test button on your smoke detector monthly. The battery in our smoke detectors is designed to last up to 10 years, but this is only possible if the test button is pressed regularly. Doing so keeps the battery active and ensures proper operation of the smoke detector. We recommend pressing the test button every month to ensure your smoke detector continues to function correctly.
Note: If the smoke detector is not properly maintained, such as failing to test it monthly, this can impact the performance of the smoke detector and the warranty. Not following the required maintenance instructions may result in the warranty being voided. Please refer to the manual for the specific maintenance tasks that must be performed to maintain the warranty.
2. Cleaning
Our smoke detectors cannot distinguish between smoke, vapor, or dust. Anything that blocks the sensor's visibility can cause a false alarm. Dust is a common culprit, especially if the smoke detector isn't cleaned regularly. We recommend cleaning your smoke detector monthly to prevent false alarms.
Remove the smoke detector from the ceiling and carefully vacuum the sensor side, as mentioned in the manual. This ensures the sensor stays free of dust. Another effective cleaning method is to use a compressor to blow the dust out.

3. Location
Proper installation of your smoke detector is essential for its effective operation. Make sure there is at least 30 cm of clearance around the smoke detector from any electronic equipment or connection points to avoid interference from inductive voltage. Additionally, do not install the smoke detector in the kitchen or bathroom. Smoke, steam, or moisture from cooking or showering can easily trigger a false alarm.
Important: If the smoke detector is not maintained or installed according to these guidelines, the warranty may be voided. We strongly recommend following the instructions in the manual to ensure your warranty remains valid.
