This receiver is a detector that sounds and triggers an alarm after water is detected in it's location, which may indicate the start a leakage. Before you can use this water detector properly however, you need to pair it to the Link. The following type of water detector can be added to the link;

Adding The water detector to the link 

Before you add the water detector to the link take note of the following: 

  • Prepare the leakage detector

If you purchased the leakage detector brand new a red tab will be coming out of the leakage detector housing. Leave it there until you are requested in the app to remove it. If the red tab is not present, simply open the leakage detector and remove the batteries. Leave it like that until you are requested in the app to pull the red tab (or if no tab, simply insert the batteries . 

  • Keep it close to the link when pairing

Ensure that the link is close by during the pairing process.


The following steps explain how to add the water detector in the HomeWizard Link App: 

  1. Open the 'HomeWizard link' app 
  2. Go to the  'My Home' tab at the bottom right of the screen. 
  3. In the app, go to the 'Home Settings' by clicking the gear icon in the upper right corner
  4. Select 'Add devices'
  5. You are in the 'Add new devices' screen.
    • Select Water detector’ to add a water detector in the link. 
    • If everything is well prepared, press 'next' to start the pairing process. 
      • Remove the red tab from the water detector or
      • Put the batteries back in the water detector, ensuring the polarity is correct.
        • Follow the instructions on the app. 
  6. Congratulations, you have added a water detector to the HomeWizard link. 

Once added, it is possible to see the water detector. You will be notified depending on the status of the link. 

  1. Open the 'HomeWizard app'  
  2. At the bottom of the screen, click on Control’.
  3. You are in the 'control' screen. Find the water detector in the added room.
    • View on the 'tile’ of the water detector to view if the status. 
    • Hold down the ‘tile’’ of the water detector for a long time to ‘EDIT’. 
      • Your are in the ‘Device settings’ of the water detector you can now view and edit; 
        • See if the sensor has detected water 
          • Press 'History' to view the history of the water detector 
          • Press Device setting’ to change the name, toggle favourite position or manage automation. 

Placing the Water Detector 

The alarm of the water alarm is triggered if two of the three pins on the bottom of the detector in contact with water. 


1. Place the detector in a suitable position where a leakage may be likely to occur.


Some recommended places:
  • Under or next to the washing machine.
  • In a solar water heater, under the connection to the pipes.
  • In basements or crawl holes at risk of flooding

Testing the leakage detector  

The water detector alarm is triggered when two of the three pins on the bottom make contact with water or another fluid.  To reproduce this you can use two wet fingers on 2 of the 3 contacts. 


It is recommended to check visually every week to see if the LED flashes to indicate it is functioning correctly (every 30 seconds or so)




NOTE
Alarm signal will send a reduced RF signal in order to make sure it will work in normal conditions. You will see in the HomeWizard link app that the alarm signal was successful received

Battery life

The water detector has a battery life of ± 5 years. When the battery runs low, you will hear every 1 minute 15 seconds, a short beep for 30 days. In addition, you also receive a reminder on the HomeWizard app that the batteries of the specific water detector is low. Only the water detector with the low battery beeps.
