With automation you can perform actions in your home automatically. You can for example turn on your lighting when you get home and it is dark, or you can turn off all your lighting when you go to sleep. There are different types of automation that you can setup:
Home state automation: this is automation that performs actions based on the active home state: Someone Home, Everyone Away, Sleep Mode, Holiday Mode.
Device automation tasks: this is automation that performs actions based on time and/or device triggers

Home state automation
Home state automation allows you to perform device actions based on the active home state. You can. Setting up home state automation is easy:
- Open the
'HomeWizard link' app
- Go to the
'My Home' tab at the bottom right of the screen.
- In the app, go to the
'Home Settings' by clicking the gear icon in the upper right corner.
- Go to
‘Automation’
- You are in the "Automation" screen.
- Select the desired home state and set the behaviour of devices when this home state is active

Preventive lighting
A device that has been set up as preventive lighting will turn on around sunset and turn off around midnight to simulate uncertainty. Preventive lighting is ideal for use for automation when away or on holiday.
Preventive lighting can only be active in the home states ‘Everyone Away’ or ‘Holiday Mode’ . When in the home states ‘Someone Home’ or ‘Night mode’ it is not possible to activate preventive lighting. When you activate one device on the Home state ‘Everyone Away', it will automatically activate it in the ‘Holiday mode’.
The set prevention lighting will always be at the maximum dim setting of 100%. However, the dimming position will show randomness with regard to the white light position.
Auto sleep mode
Auto Sleep Mode can be set on the basis of time when you have a fixed pattern to go to sleep. Auto Sleep Mode only becomes active when the home state is "Someone Home". You will receive a notification 15 minutes before Auto Sleep is enabled. You can cancel Auto Sleep Mode in this notification for this day, or delay it.

- Open the
'HomeWizard link' app
- Go to the
'My Home' tab at the bottom right of the screen. (automatically when opening app)
- In the app, go to the
'Home Settings' by clicking the gear icon in the upper right corner.
- Go to
‘Automation’
- Select
‘Auto sleep mode’
- You are in the 'Auto sleep mode' screen.
- Toggle 'user automatic sleep mode' to set the desired start and end time settings accordingly
- Set the desired 'Start Time' for when everyone goes to sleep.
- Set the desired 'End Time' for when everyone wakes up.
- Toggle 'user automatic sleep mode' to set the desired start and end time settings accordingly
Device automation tasks
If you do not want to automate your home based on home states you could create a device automation task. Device automation tasks allow you to perform actions on devices at a specific time and/or a specific day. You can for example set a wake up light on weekdays, or turn on your garden lights from sunset to a specific time every day.
How do I set up device automation tasks
Setting up a device automation task is easy:
Open the
'HomeWizard app'
- At the bottom of the screen, click on
‘Control’.
- Hold the tile of the device you want to create a task.
- Then, on the device control panel, go to
"Device Settings" by clicking the gear icon in the upper right corner.
- You are now in the Device Settings of the device.
- Choose "Automation" to enter the automation screen
- Click on
'New Task' and see what's possible.
- Name: Enter a desired name for the task.
- Action: This will allow you to designate the 'Off' and 'On' times on the day that the task should be performed.
- On and off can be a specific time, sunrise, or sunset.
- At the moment when your Name and Action has been specified, click 'Save' to save the task.
- You will return to the task list and you will also see the task you just created. Return or create a new task for the same device.
- Click on
- Congratulations, the task or tasks have now been created.
The task is now added and you are able to change the task or add a new one for the device should you wish to do so.
